ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman on Thursday highlighted the role of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the ongoing anti-terrorism operations.

“The PAF in collaboration with the Pakistan Army has played a key role in eliminating terrorists,” he said while addressing a select gathering at the Manama Airpower Symposium held in Bahrain.

According to a press release issued here on Thursday, the symposium, organized by the Royal Bahraini Air Force and Air Defence, was part of the fourth International Bahrain Air Show that started on January 21.

The air chief was among the few who addressed the select audience from around the globe. He spoke on the topic “PAF’s Leading Role in Ongoing Operations — Successes and Future Challenges”.

The chiefs of more than 20 air forces and a large number of officials from aviation industries attended the symposium.

Aman said the PAF had inflicted heavy losses on terrorists and destroyed their command and control centres as well as ammunition depots.

“Large-scale efforts have been made for infrastructure development and provision of basic amenities to the local population. The PAF and the Pakistan Army have joined hands to provide quality education to the youth of these areas and help them become better citizens of the country,” he said.

He said that anti-terrorism operations in Pakistan were fully backed by the political leadership and owned by the nation.

“The PAF, with its wherewithal, has the capacity to operate with total precision in all weather conditions and its air strikes have caused major blows to terrorists,” he said.

The air chief reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to fight terrorism and PAF’s determination to win this war.

Commenting on ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the air chief said that Pakistan was playing a proactive role to defuse the tension between the two countries. He said that the resolution of the current crisis through peaceful means would not only help defuse tension between the two countries, but also help promote harmony in the Muslim world.

The air chief also met his counterparts from other countries. He will also participate in the opening ceremony of the Bahrain Air Show at the Sakhir Air Base (Bahrain).
