(CNN)Two
men with knives attacked at least three guests and threatened others at
a hotel in the Egyptian coastal city of Hurghada, the country's
Ministry of Interior said Friday.
Security
forces stationed at the hotel confronted the men as they tried to
escape, killing one and seriously wounding the other, according to the
ministry's Facebook page.
Previous
reporting indicated the men may have had guns, but the Interior
Ministry said each man had a knife and a "sound gun," which does not
shoot bullets, according to the ministry.
Two
Austrian tourists and a Swedish tourist were stabbed as the attackers
were fleeing. The wounded were sent to a hospital and one was was
treated and released.
There were no details on the conditions of the others.
The attack took place at the Bella Vista Hotel in the city's busy downtown area, state-run news agency al-Ahram reported.
Hurghada is a resort town along Egypt's Red Sea coast, located about 280 miles (451 kilometers) from Cairo.
