PESHAWAR – Unidentified militants shot dead two personnel of Khyber Pakhtunwa Police's Elite Force Unit in Rasheed Ghari area here on Friday.
Talking to journalists, Superintendent of Police (SP) Imtiaz said that elite force policemen Shahzeb and Ihsanullah were riding a motorcycle en route to their office when unidentified armed men opened fire at them. The SP said that both the victims were well trained in the use of security scanners.
The motorcycle-riding assailants managed to flee from the attack site. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Mubarak Zeb Khan said that search operation was underway in the area for hunting the militants. The bodies of the victims were shifted to a hospital for postmortem.
“I came out of my house after hearing gunshots and saw two injured policemen lying on the road, they were taken to hospital but the two succumbed to their wounds,” an eyewitness who is a resident of Rasheed Ghari area said.
