KARACHI - An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday granted interim bail to Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Waseem Akhtar, who is also candidate for mayor of Karachi, till 20th of February in hate speech case.

The court asked to submit bonds of Rs 20,000 besides granting him exemption from appearing in person on his request. Earlier this month, Akhtar had also filed a petition in the Sindh High Court for an urgent hearing on his application for bail in MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s hate speech case.

On October 3, 2015, a case was registered against the MQM representative at the SITE Super Highway Industrial Area police station in which it was included that he had incited the public to violence, harmed the national interests of the country and also included the provisions of terrorism as well.
