CHARSADDA – Eight Terrorists stormed into Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, on early Wednesday morning, reported by private TV channel.
Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafzai has said that death toll has reached to 25 in Terror attack at Bacha Khan University. Rescue sources have confirmed that injured people in the incident have been reached to 60, critically injured have been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Charsadda, Also several have been shifted to Peshawar for medical treatment.
Chemistry Department professor Dr Hamid has been killed in the attack according to a teacher who spoke when he was rescued from the campus. The Bacha Khan University vice chancellor confirmed that four guards and one police officer were martyred.
Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) Director General Asim Bajwa said that a counter terrorism operation has begun inside the university. He also said that the Pakistan Army helicopters were monitoring the situation from the air to provide better spatial awareness to the forces conducting the operation on ground.
Operation of Pakistan Army is continue inside the premises of University and ISPR has confirmed that 2 terrorists have been killed in the operation and they have been restricted to only two blocks of the university. As many as 10 blasts have been heard after the operation started in the University.A large number of worried parents have thronged to the hospital looking for their children. Sources said that 90 per cent of the buildings have been cleared on campus, adding that the operation is being carried out by Pakistan Army soldiers and the Police.
The Bacha Khan University is a public university approximately 15 kilometers from Charsadda main. It is named after the peace activist and leader Bacha Khan whose message of peace remains the motto of the university. The attack comes on the same date as his death anniversary when a poetic symposium has been organized on campus.
