ISLAMABAD - Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday said that Pakistan is a part of Saudi Arabia-led alliance against terrorism but won’t send its forces there.

Briefing the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Aziz said that Pakistan was playing a role in reducing tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran. He said Pakistan was only a part of 34-nations alliance against terrorism but not sending its forces on ground in Saudi Arabia, adding that sending forces in any country was against the policy.

The adviser said that Pakistan would only send its forces for peace keeping missions of the UN. He said that Saudi Arabia had not requested Pakistan to send its forces.

The NA standing committee endorsed the government’s policy over Saudi-Iran tensions. Its chairman Awais Laghari said Pakistan has to play a crucial role in reducing tensions between the two countries.
