ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed his government’s resolve to continue the war on terror until the last terrorist was eliminated from the soil of the country.
“Perpetrators and facilitator of the heinous act of killing our innocent children at the place of their education will be brought to justice,” the prime minister told a meeting held at the PM House to review overall security and economic situation of the country.
Reiterating government’s commitment to eliminate terrorism from the country, the prime minister said the economic stability and success against militants had created hope and optimism among people. He said ensuring a peaceful Pakistan for the future generations was the top most priority of the government.
Nawaz said that the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb had broken the back of terrorists, who, out of sheer frustration, were now hitting soft targets. However, he added, “We will not let their evil agenda to succeed.”
The Karachi operation also came under discussion during the meeting. It was agreed that since the operation had yielded positive results, it would continue till its logical conclusion.
The meeting appreciated the matchless sacrifices and coordinated efforts of the law enforcement agencies with regard to Zarb-e-Azb and Karachi operation.
The prime minister took members of the meeting into confidence on his latest visits to Saudi Arabia, Iran and Switzerland and said Pakistan’s image abroad had improved which was due to the consolidated efforts of government’s team.
The prime minister said the business leaders and communities from the world over viewed Pakistan quite positively, for which the economic team of the government deserved recognition and appreciation.
He emphasized that the country was on the right track to achieve stability, economic progress and provide a conducive environment for all sectors to perform up to their true potential.
The prime minister was briefed in detail about the tragic incident of Bacha Khan University and the follow-up investigations carried out in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Railways Minister Saad Rafique, PM’s Advisor Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.
