Turkish Airlines flight from Houston to Istanbul was back on its
journey after being diverted to Ireland for hours because of a bomb
threat, the airline and Irish police said.
Turkish
Airlines Flight TK34 was diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland on
Sunday morning because of a "bomb alert," the airline said. The Boeing
777 landed safely and all passengers and crew disembarked.
The
passengers were moved to a secure area of the airport, officials there
said in a statement. A lengthy sweep of the plane found no explosives,
police said.
Turkish Airlines confirmed that the passengers reboarded the plane and the flight continued to its destination.
No details of the threat were released,and no arrests were made, police said.
Flight TK34 was carrying 207 passengers and two infants, the airline said.
Shannon Airport serves the west coast of Ireland and is about 25 kilometers (15 miles) from the city of Limerick.
