ISLAMABAD: Following the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to make educational institutions of federal capital as role models for the entire country, the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has started work on the development of the city’s schools and colleges in this regard.

An official from the CADD Ministry said that the ministry has assigned target to Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the renovation of these schools and colleges.

In this connection, CDA has started maintenance work in 23 schools and colleges of Islamabad in its first phase that would be completed till January 15, he added.

He said that on the directives of the prime minister, all 422 schools of the capital would be made as role models for the whole country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan.

For the first time in Pakistan, Montessori, a pre-school education system is being introduced in the public sector schools. Initially, Montessori would be introduced in five schools that would be further expanded to other schools in the second phase.

In this regard, the CADD Ministry held a special meeting recently with internationals representatives from USAID, DFID, JICA, WFP, Canadian Programme Cooperation in Pakistan and others.

The people appreciated the prime minister’s vision for education and shared their contributions in various sectors especially in education sector of Pakistan.

State Minister for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary appreciated the contribution of International development partners in Pakistan and said that government is introducing a complete reform programme for the federal capital that other provinces could replicate for themselves.

Sources from CADD told that 200 new buses are being purchased to provide better facility of transport to students of all schools and colleges of the federal capital.

Biometric attendance for teachers and students is being introduced and new science and IT labs are being developed.

International partners also urged by the government to come up with their ideas and expertise in developing all these facilities.

The provision of trained Montessori teacher and training of teacher for Montessori would be the most vital contribution at this stage.
