ISLAMABAD - Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the United States will hold talks here on Monday – January 11 on reviving negotiations to end the Afghanistan war.

Sources said that the officials of the four countries will discuss a road map for peace talks. Reports from Kabul say that Afghan delegation will be led by Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Karzai. The talks were agreed upon during a visit to Kabul last month by Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif.

The talks do not include the Taliban, who have been battling the US-backed government for nearly 15 years and have recently stepped up attacks. Pakistan hosted a meeting of the Kabul officials and the Taliban representatives last summer, but the process collapsed after the announcement of the death of longtime Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.
