ISLAMABAD - Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani urged Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to brief the House about the country’s stance on recent tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Commenting on the adjournment motion moved by Senator Colonel (retired) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhidi, Raza said since the issue was of a sensitive nature and directly linked to the peace in the region, the adviser on Foreign Affairs should give an in camera briefing besides sharing the country's policy with members of the House.
Speaking in the Senate, Leader of the House Rajaz Zafrul Haq said Saudi Arabia and Iran were both close to Pakistan hence it should play a positive role and remain neutral in recent tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
He said this issue should be resolved through peaceful means to ensure durable peace in the region. Pakistan could not play a role as party, rather it would play a positive role for the sake of peace and harmony.
