QUETTA – Five people were killed and several injured in a blast near a polio centre in Quetta’s Satellite Town on Wednesday, Private TV channel reported.

Rescue teams have reached the site of the incident and the injured are being shifted to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, police and security officials have cordoned off the area.

Initial reports said that five people – including polio team members – were killed and several others injured. Bodies and the injured were later shifted to civil hospital by rescue team. The nature of the blast has not yet been ascertained, as security forces cordoned off the scene.

The blast came on third day of Balochistan-wide polio vaccination campaign. This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
