ISLAMABAD – Two men suspected in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali have recorded their confessional statements.
Mohsin Ali has confessed that he murdered Imran Farooq along with Kashif. The Anti-Terrorism Wing of the FIA produced Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali, the two of the three suspects in the case – in court of Islamabad Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Sattar Essani while the third accused Moazzam Ali refused to record confessional statement.
Accoding to sources the two suspects recorded their statements under Section 164 before Magistrate Capt (r) Shoaib. Confessing the crime accused Mohsin Ali said that he was given the task to murder Imran Farooq in Britain while the planning of the murder was made at a hostel of British university during which Kashif, Kamran and a third person was also present.
He also confessed that he murdered Imran Farooq along with Kashif. The accused also confessed that Khalid Shamim and Moazzam Ali got his visa stamped and they also made all the arrangements to send him to Britain.

In a statement issued late on Thursday, the MQM clarified that no member of the party was involved in Imran Farooq’s murder. “MQM is aware of reports in the Pakistani media that individuals held in detention by Pakistani authorities have allegedly confessed to the murder of Dr Imran Farooq.
These individuals have allegedly named the MQM personnel as having ordered the killing,” it said.
“We categorically state that no party personnel have had anything whatever to do with the tragic death of Dr Farooq. We mourn the loss of a man who was our friend and colleague for many years,” the statement added. “MQM welcomes any assistance that may be provided to the British Metropolitan Police Service, who continues to investigate the death of Dr Farooq.”
