ISLAMABAD - Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly (NA) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed shah expressed his annoyance against the federal government for passing privatisation bill of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) in the Lower House in absence of the opposition.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Khursheed warned that if the government tried to forcefully privatise the national airline PIA then it will have to face strong resistance from them. He questioned when the government has given air-route to the international airlines, how PIA can earn and go in profit.
Criticising the government on taking record debts from international institutions, he alleged that the government is making money from high petrol prices instead of giving relief to the public.
He said the price of petrol should be Rs 36 per liter. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has built a 100 billion Metro Bus project and is now giving annual Rs 4 billion subsidies on it.
