ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has returned home from London after concluding his successful visits to Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Switzerland.
The prime minister‘s diplomatic mission was aimed at reducing tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia. During his visit to Switzerland, the prime minister participated in a number of global events and held bilateral meetings with a number of important political and business leaders of the world.
He participated in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held at Davos, Switzerland, from 20 to 25 January 2016 and also visited CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research), one of the foremost international centers of scientific research. Pakistan and CERN have been collaborating since 1994, and have carried out a number of successful projects involving sophisticated technologies. Pakistan became an Associate Member of CERN last year. Pakistan has the distinction of being the first Associate Member of CERN from Asia.
At the WEF Annual Meeting 2016, 3000 heads of states, top business leaders, academics and media leaders were present. In an event focusing on South Asia, the prime minister presented his vision of Pakistan highlighting the Government’s efforts towards regional stability and connectivity.
