Among the 14,850 kidnapping cases – he said – 980 were those of minors. He said some 96 kidnap for ransom cases were registered adding that of the 96 cases, 25 were those of minors. Lahore reported 15 kidnapping cases in which families of the victims were compelled to pay ransom, he added.
Sarwar said some 2,000 women were kidnapped and 80 per cent of them were allegedly raped, adding that 15 per cent of those kidnapped were killed. He said newborns were also kidnapped from hospitals, adding that the provincial government had failed to protect the lives and property of the masses.
The PTI leader said performance of the police remained unimpressive as they failed to solve hundreds of cases, adding that many of the kidnapped persons were never recovered. According to the fact sheet – he said - some 3,100 cases were still under investigation.
Sarwar said the fact sheet also contained information relating to child molestation cases, adding that the police and other institutions had failed to reduce crime rate. He demanded the provincial government to address such cases and give exemplary punishment to the criminals.
