ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday dismissed an election petition seeking disqualification of Pakistan People Party (PPP) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sardar Ghulam Abid Khan Sundrani from PS-17 Kashmore I (old Jacobabad V). A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar comprising of Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Tariq Pervez upheld the election tribunal verdict and dismissed the petition filed by losing candidate Raja Ghous Bux Bajrani of Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam alleging rigging.The apex court in its order observed that unverified votes could not be declared fake votes. During the course of proceedings, Qazi Anwar, counsel for Raja Ghous Bux Bajrani and Farooq H. Naek representing Sardar Ghulam Abid Khan Sundrani appeared before the bench. There was difference of only 680 votes between the two candidates while National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) did not verify 2417 votes polled.
