ISLAMABAD - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will brief the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs about Saudi-Iran standoff and secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India.
This was stated by Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari while responding to a point of order of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker Dr Shireen Mazari in Lower House of the Parliament on Friday.
Dr Mazari on a point of order raised the issue of Saudi-Iran standoff and secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India, and demanded that the ministry should brief about the latest development in this regard. She said it was a serious issue and the government should take all parliamentarians on board.
PTI’s Dr Arif Alvi said that Pakistan should not become a party in the Saudi-Iran issue and play a neutral role in this regard.
Pukhtoonkhwa Mili Awami Party Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai again raised the issue of non-serious attitude of the ministries in giving timely answers to various questions of the members. He said that the chair must give its observations in this regard.
Jamaat-e-Islami parliamentary leader Sahibzada Tariq Ullah said that it was a sensitive issue and the government should take the parliament into confidence on the arising situation from Saudi-Iran standoff. Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi said that the ministries were repeatedly being asked to make sure replies.
