ISLAMABAD: Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the Upper House that work on the new International Islamabad Airport was moving ahead and the facility would be completed by October. Speaking in the Senate during question-hour session, the minister said earlier the ambitious project faced some delays due to certain factors including availability issue of water, but now land had been acquired for construction of dams to store water in collaboration with the Punjab government. The minister said the Capital Development Authority (CDA) as per provision of the Master Plan of Islamabad had completed Kashmir Highway (section I & II) from Peshawar Mor to Golra Mor. However, he said the third section of Kashmir Highway from Golra Mor to GT Road was transferred to National Highway Authority (NHA) as per decision in the Planning Commission. Accordingly, he said, the record and design was handed over to NHA for incorporation in the PC-I of the road connection to New International Airport and execution of the project.
